Course Information
This presentation is an opportunity to reflect on how you may change and improve your teaching practices with a focus on positively impacting the learning of students who are deaf/ hard of hearing (D/HH). You will be able collaborate with other ToDs to identify the factors which constrain (barriers) and increase (enablers) your engagement in reflective teaching practices. We will also review the recent ground-breaking research on how ToDs define the concept of reflection, why it is important for our role and the most significant barriers and enablers of reflection.
Through the insights shared by 22 Australian ToDs you can learn about some of the reflective practice approaches used within their varying teaching environments when “Thinking back over what has been done/achieved, analysing what was good/ effective… achieved positive outcomes and what was less effective/needs to be changed…and applying this analysis to the next steps/forward planning/ goals set/future activities” (Participant 14). This workshop is an exploration of practical solutions based on real issues, a chance to collaborate, share knowledge and learn together, but the true magic is in what happens afterwards and the actions you take.
