Supporters smash first Giving Day goal to help children with hearing and vision loss

One Giving Day supporter says it best: ‘Dream big, stay kind, and make an impact’.

‘Dream big, stay kind and make an impact’. These words for children with hearing and vision loss are from a generous supporter who donated on our first Giving Day, helping smash our $200,000 fundraising goal.

Thanks to every donation made in a 24-hour period being doubled by generous individual and corporate supporters, we exceeded our Giving Day goal in a matter of hours. And with a further $30,000 in matched funding offered by one supporter, we stretched our bonus goal to $260,000. We reached that as well, thanks to our amazing donor community.

Every year NextSense School relies on generous donations to ensure we can continue to deliver high-quality education for children who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, and have low vision. Access to these essential school services is crucial to helping children with hearing and vision loss reach their goals.

That’s why all funds raised on our Giving Day will go directly towards our school and help us continue this vital work.

We can’t thank our donors enough for seizing the opportunity to double their impact. Every dollar raised makes a difference.

Many supporters called out our gift-matchers, thanking them for making the day possible: Mitsubishi Electric, VivCourt Trading, Corporate Match 2.0, Anton and Jenny Gaudry, The Henson Foundation, Henk and Diane, and Qantas Pathfinders, who matched all donations dollar for dollar.

We’d also like to extend a big thank you to Pfizer and their team of staff who stepped in to help in our call centre.

We heard some rewarding comments about why people pledged support on the day. Here’s a sample:

‘I am an individual with a cochlear implant since the age of 9. Thank you for providing me the opportunity to donate towards recipients like Callum. Wishing him all the best and you in your fundraising.’

‘I don't know where we would be without NextSense. This is for our gratitude.’

‘Thank you to NextSense for helping so many vision-impaired children improve their quality of life and their futures.’

‘I am impressed with your work and proud of our family life-long connection.’

‘My daughter is vision impaired and the incredible staff at NextSense were such an amazing support to us in the early days.’

Giving Day is one of the many ways to support NextSense. We rely on the support of our community to help deliver vital services to all who need us.
