Why volunteer?

As well as making a difference in the lives of people with hearing or vision loss, volunteering at NextSense is a great way to:

  • maintain or develop workplace skills
  • increase your confidence
  • explore new challenges
  • contribute to the support of children with hearing or vision loss
  • get access to work experience
  • participate in annual volunteer functions
  • have social interaction
  • get access to membership of the Rydge Family Library
  • enjoy ‘on the job’ training in a supportive environment.

How can I get involved?

There are lots of ways you can support NextSense as a volunteer.

Become a general volunteer

General volunteers come from a broad cross-section of the community and work in a variety of areas including proofreading, archiving, clerical work, library, classrooms, special events and gardening.

Assist with fundraising events and tasks

Fundraising volunteers assist with a variety of events and clerical tasks that support our Fundraising and Development team. Over 1,500 volunteers are members of our fundraising committees through our clubs and auxiliaries. Our Board of Directors and Ambassadors are also NextSense volunteers. You can also volunteer by joining a fundraising group here.

Volunteer with your colleagues

We love our corporate volunteers for what they do. Corporate teams can volunteer for half or full-day projects that might include helping out at school events, gardening, painting, cleaning, and other general maintenance tasks.

Become a Garden Club member

Help plan and manage the gardens at our North Rocks centre by joining our Garden Club. It’s a great way to meet new people.
