Dr Markus Dahm

Dr Dahm is a Head and Neck Surgery Otorhinolaryngolgist actively implanting more than 1200 adults and children with cochlear implants and implantable hearing aids in Europe and Australia.

Born and trained in Germany, Dr Dahm completed Medical School in Aachen and trained in ENT in Krefeld Berlin and Hannover. With a scholarship of the German Research Council, he spent 1990 and 1991 in Melbourne with Professor Graeme Clark and his team investigating the safety of paediatric Cochlear Implant, which led to FDA approval of CIs in children in 1992.

Since that year, Dr Dahm have been actively implanting more than 1200 adults and children with a wide variety and different generations of cochlear implants and implantable hearing aids in Europe and Australia. He completed his PhD on safety and efficiency of paediatric cochlear implantation at the Humboldt University in Berlin, where he also founded the Berlin Cochlear Implant Centre. In 1998, Dr Dahm was invited back to Australia by Graeme Clark back to the University of Melbourne as a Senior Lecturer and ENT consultant at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and Cochlear Implant Centre.

After passing the Australian Surgical Fellowship Exam, Dr Dahm also worked at Monash Health and Royal Children’s Hospital as a senior Otologist, establishing Australia’s biggest atresia and microtia clinic in cooperation with the paediatric plastics department.
